Annual Conference

Dear Colleagues and Friends:

It is a pleasure to invite you to the 2008 IFMSS annual meeting at the Athenian Riviera in Greece. This is the 27th meeting of our Society which will take place in Attica, the pillar of western civilization. The recent 2004 Olympic Games transformed the unique city of Athens, in the general region of Attica, into a visitor-friendly metropolis. With newly constructed highways and subways to take you there, the Acropolis with its Parthenon, center of Athens’ past Royalty and center of spiritual worship, the Ancient and Modern Olympic Buildings, as well as the Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion, the Argosaronic Gulf islands, and other treasures of Ancient and Modern Greece are waiting for us!

As your President, I urge you to join us (the organizing committee, and myself) at the Arion Resort & Spa of the Astir Palace Hotel Resort, an excellent resort with a truly unique location at the Athenian Riviera, to share original multidisciplinary contributions representing the latest in fetal diagnosis and therapy, as IFMSS symbolizes today, the only formal International Forum to exchange ideas of fetal medicine & surgery, meet friends and peers, pioneers and colleagues, from all over the world and in an informal atmosphere.

The local Organizing Committee, under Effie Kontopoulos, MD, (Tampa, Florida) as the Chairman of the Scientific Program Committee, and Michalis Mavroudis, MD, (Athens, Greece) as the Chairman of the Organizing Committee promises to put together an unparallel Meeting, both in scientific excellence and also in social events. I recommend that you support both events, and start planning from now, your valuable contributions.

As the meeting is at the middle of September, it is advisable to engage -before or after the meeting- in the many organized excursions under the famous Greek sun to unique destinations, such as the spectacular Greek Isles or Ancient Olympia or Epidavros, that the local hosts are preparing for you and your families.

Join me in Greece, my native country, for an unforgettable experience!
